Does Uploading a Tree to Ancestry Overwrite Whats Already There?
* Will Uploading GEDCOM File Overwrite What I Have in my Current Projection?
Importing from or exporting to some other genealogy plan. This is the place to ask.

Will Uploading GEDCOM File Overwrite What I Have in my Current Project?
Hullo,
My ancestry subscription is about to run out and I would like to export the latest GEDCOM file from Ancestry and load it into Family Historian. I have done this one time before when I first got Family unit Historian. My question is if I do this again, will the new GEDCOM file overwrite all of the information I currently have in Family unit Historian that is NOT on Beginnings? For instance, I take added photos, many notes, and more people in Family unit Historian. I don't want to lose that if I upload the new GEDCOM file. Will that be the case?
Thanks!

Re: Volition Uploading GEDCOM File Overwrite What I Have in my Current Project?
Welcome to the FHUG Jenny. The short reply is No information technology won't simply overwrite, the information can exist merged.
The beginning strategy to establish is which product holds your chief Project database.
If y'all update two products like Beginnings and Family unit Historian (FH) independently you lot will regularly face this challenge.
So choose one as master and ever drift updates from that i to any other products.
Going back to when y'all migrated the GEDCOM from Ancestry to FH did you follow the import advice provided in the Cognition Base > Import from Ancestry website page?
Unfortunately, each production has its ain dialect of GEDCOM and although the important data is quite well represented, many details differ from production to product.
That page of import advice explains how to sort out those discrepancies between Ancestry and FH, and I suggest you review your Project in the light of that advice. If y'all need help with that and then please ask.
Now when you come to migrate your GEDCOM from Ancestry to FH you will initially go through that same process to create a new Project in FH to sort out those discrepancies.
Having done that you can employ the File > Merge/Compare File command to integrate this new Project into your principal Projection which semi-automatically synchronises matching records and allows you to merge data and keep whatever data y'all prefer from either Project.
The full process is explained in Knowledge Base of operations > Merge/Compare File and you lot may have questions almost that.
Just make sure you have suitable Backups and be prepared to brand a couple of exercise attempts until y'all go familiar with the technique.

Re: Volition Uploading GEDCOM File Overwrite What I Have in my Current Projection?
I have noted Jenny's query re transfer and merge her Tree on Ancestry into her Tree on FH. Does the aforementioned advice utilise to doing the same from "Find my Past", bearing in listen there is some apparent connection betwixt FH and "Observe my Past" in that "Find my Past" hints are shown in FH. I have built upward my Tree in "Detect my By" using their hint shown in FH, and as well on my Tree with "Find my Past", and want to evidence those hints that I accept accustomed, in my FH Tree. Or is there an easier way of doing it, again bearing in listen the credible arrangement between FH and "Find my By" Information technology's a pity that any accepted hints from "Find my Past" don't testify automatically in ane's Tree in FH, if desired.
Whatever communication appreciated.
Cheers,

Re: Will Uploading GEDCOM File Overwrite What I Take in my Current Project?
Yep, migrating a GEDCOM from any production into FH follows exactly the same strategy.
Create a temporary Project in which to clean the data and and then Merge that with your master Project.
The FH Focus Window 'hints' from FindMyPast are less integrated than on FindMyPast itself.
They are little more than than shortcuts to finding records online in FindMyPast (or MyHeritage).
What y'all practice with the records you find is exactly the same equally if you had signed in to FindMyPast and manually searched for the records.
FindMyPast tin automate the procedure more considering their records and their tree are within one product.
